Timeline

1985-Mother/daughter duo, Salwa and Juann Khoory, established a store in the South End to restore family heirloom wedding gowns and veils. With their team of designers and ateliers they began recreating, transforming, and customizing wedding gowns for the modern bride. Both women offer backgrounds in related fields of design—Juann as an architect, and Salwa, specializing in haute couture designs and as a skilled tailor.

1990-L’elite moved to Newbury Street, Boston’s famous fashion district, featuring ready to wear collections from around the world.

1993-L’elite opened its bridal collection, featuring European haute couture designers from France and Italy.

1995 to present– L’elite expanded and evolved adding more American designers to the bridal collection, such as Oscar de la Renta, Amsale, Monique Lhuillier, among others.

2005-Gisele Khoory joined the company and opened the first free standing Vera Wang Boston store, located at 73 Newbury Street.

2009-L’elite opened a new boutique called L’elite Occasions, at 121 Newbury Street, featuring gowns for special occasions, prom, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Mother of the Bride/Groom, and other gala/black tie events. The store carries red carpet designer styles that are not always available in mainstream fashion boutiques, such as collections by Carolina Herrera, Catherine Regehr, Liancarlo, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, and Pamella Roland, to name a few.

2012-L’elite expanded its bridal collection by opening another bridal boutique, Musette Bridal, at 123 Newbury Street, to carry designers that Boston brides were demanding. The collection features modern, contemporary, and traditional styles from primarily international designers such as Romona Keveza from Canada; Jenny Packham from London; and from Barcelona, Pronovias, Rosa Clara, and Yolan Cris, for more affordable collections.
